Generative, Algorithmic, Parametric and AI-Assisted Design Primo Coffee Table by Madalin Gheorghe Madalin Gheorghe from Studio SIMPLEXIO has envisioned PRIMO, a series of custom coffee tables that combine generative design principles with flexible computer-aided manufacturing systems. The intricate geometry is derived from a space-partitioning algorithm called voronoi, which deals with means of matter aggregation at cellular levels in nature. To produce this shape, the designer inputs basic mathematical instructions into a computer and allows the program to generate the form. The pieces are then laser-cut, assembled in an origami-folding fashion, manually welded and powder coated.
